Privacy Policy
Version 1.1 · applies to the BhaBha app and website
REPLACE_COMPANY_NAME ("we") is the data fiduciary for BhaBha under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain words.
What we collect
- Your mobile number and name, to create and secure your account (login is by one-time password).
- Your location (GPS), only to check that you are in India when you register or log in. It is not used for advertising.
- What you create: profile, posts, replies, stories, communities, polls, photos, videos and voice notes you choose to upload.
- Private chats: messages and attachments are end-to-end encrypted on your phone. We store only encrypted data that we cannot read. We do see who messaged whom and when, to deliver messages.
- Your device: a push-notification token and basic technical logs (such as IP address and time) for security and abuse prevention.
- Backups you switch on are encrypted on your phone before they leave it. We cannot open them.
Why we use it
To run the service, keep it secure, enforce our Terms, handle reports and grievances, and meet legal duties. We do not sell your personal data. Advertisers receive only counts, never personal data about viewers.
How long we keep it
When you delete content or your account it disappears from your view at once. We keep a hidden copy for 90 days, release it only on a valid legal request, and then erase it permanently, including uploaded files. If a court or law requires a longer hold on specific data, that data is kept until the hold ends.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your data, withdraw consent, and nominate someone to act for you, under the DPDP Act. Use Settings in the app, or write to our Grievance Officer below. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.
Who we share with
- Service providers that deliver SMS one-time passwords and push notifications on our behalf.
- Authorities, when the law requires and a valid request is made.
- Other users, only what you choose to make public or send to them.
Where it is stored
On servers located in India.
Age
BhaBha is for people aged 18 and over.
Security
Encrypted connections, encrypted backups, restricted access and regular updates. No system is perfectly secure; we will tell affected users and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy we will tell you in the app before it applies.
